Air China adding third nonstop LAX-Beijing flight from May 2

Air China recently announced it would be adding a third nonstop route between Beijing and Los Angeles. The airline will start operating new flights between the two destinations starting from May 2. The flights will be initially operated four times per week, but will later on become a daily service effective from July 1.

The new nonstop flights on Beijing-Los Angeles route will be operated with the help of a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which will be featuring eight luxury suites in the first class or Forbidden Pavilion cabin.

Air China said that its customers booking business class tickets will be offered 41 lie-flat sleeper seats in the business class cabin. The aircraft will also be equipped with 259 seats in economy class, each seat having TV monitors for in-flight entertainment.

Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles, welcomed the increase of frequencies on the route. He said, “During the past four years Los Angeles has seen four-fold increase in Chinese tourists arrivals. The new additional flight service is therefore a welcome move as the city is likely to see meeting of its goal of 50 million tourists per year by 2020. This will also help in the creation of more jobs in the city as well.”

The United Nations World Tourism Organization in its recent study said that Los Angeles has become one of the top destinations for over 100 million Chinese tourists who are likely to embark on a global tourism spree in 2015.

Apart from Los Angeles, China’s national carrier Air China is presently serving other destinations in North America as well. These destinations include Vancouver, Honolulu, Houston, Washington D.C., New York and San Francisco.
