Air China recently launched its new flights to San Jose from Shanghai starting from September 1, 2016. This will be the airline’s first-ever nonstop flights between Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Mineta San José International Airport (SJC). Moreover, Air China will also be connecting North America for the first time from Shanghai.
Media reports said that Air China would be conducting thrice weekly flights services between San Jose and Shanghai. The flights would be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week. The airline will be using Airbus A330-200 aircraft to connect the two destinations.
The flights on San José-Shanghai route were originally planned to be launched by Air China in June this year. The launch was however delayed by couple of months and could only take place this September. The airline has though declined to provide any reasons whatsoever for the delay of the service.
Air China while providing the schedule of new service said that Flight 830 would depart from San José at 12.30 pm and arrive in Shanghai at 4.40 pm, next day. The Flight 829 will make take off from Shanghai at 1.30 pm and reach San José at 10.30 am, same day. Both outbound and inbound flights would be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week.
Apart from flights to/from Shanghai by Air China, Mineta San José International Airport has welcomed nonstop flights to five new destinations by international carriers. Lufthansa launched its flights to Frankfurt from San José. Air Canada started operating flights to Vancouver, while British Airways launched nonstop flights to London Heathrow from San José.
It may be recalled that Hainan Airlines is another leading Chinese carrier to launch between Beijing and San José in 2015. Japan’s second-largest carrier All Nippon Airways also started conducting flights to Tokyo from San José last year.
