Air China recently launched its new flights to Havana from Beijing. This is China’s first ever route to Cuba. The maiden flight departed from Beijing Capital International Airport for Cuba’s capital city Havana on December 27, 2015. The Beijing-Havana service will be operated via Montreal.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by top officials from both Cuba and China at Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport. The officials congratulated each other and hoped that the first ever Beijing-Havana route would benefit the people and contribute to the economic, social, cultural, trade and tourism development of the two countries.
Air China will be operating thrice weekly flights on Beijing-Montreal-Havana route with the help of a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The flights will be operated on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The outbound Flight CA879 will depart from Beijing at 14:00 hrs and reaches Montreal at 16:20 hrs and at Havana at 20:15 hrs. The inbound Flight CA880 will make its departure from Havana at 09:00 hrs, lands in Montreal at 14:30 hrs and in Beijing at 17:30 hrs next day.
Air China expanded its global network and launched flights services to 29 international destinations in 2015. The airline is now providing seamless connectivity to all the six continents. The new Beijing-Montreal-Havana route is aimed at strengthening the airline’s presence in the Americas. Air China is presently serving 10 destinations in the Americas. These destinations include New York JFK, Newark Liberty, Washington, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Sao Paulo, Havana, Montreal and Vancouver. The airline’s route network is now covering both east and west coasts of the U.S. and Canada and has further expanded to the Caribbean and South America.
