Air China to begin flights to Washington, offer 42 business seats

Now travelers between China and United States will be offered greater access with the launch of direct flights in June this year. China’s national carrier Air China will be introducing new direct service between Beijing and Washington D.C.

The new flights would be launched from June 10, 2014. The new Beijing-Washington D.C. route will be operated with the help of a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft configured with 311 seats. Travelers purchasing business class tickets would be offered 42 seats. The airline will also be offering 8 seats in first class and 261 seats in economy class. Seats across all classes will be equipped with power outlets and personal entertainment system.

Air China will be operating the new flights four times every week. The flights would depart from Bejing’s Capital International Airport on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The departure would be at 13:00 hrs, while the arrival at Washington DC’s Dulles International Airport would be at 14:35 hrs. The return flight would depart from Washington D.C. at 16:35 hrs and arrive at Beijing the following day at 18:15 hrs.

According to Air China, the flight between the capital cities of the two countries is being introduced considering the strong passenger demand for U.S. travel. Washington D.C. will be the airline’s 6th U.S. destination. The airline is already operating flights to Hawaii, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York.

Air China will now be the second carrier to provide direct flights between Beijing and Washington D.C. Both these capital cities are already being served by United Airlines.
