Air China’s first Shanghai-U.S. route to be launched September 1

Air China is all set to expand its footprint further in North America with the launch of its first-ever flights from Shanghai. The airline recently announced it will be launching flights to San Jose from Shanghai starting from September 1, 2016. The launch of new service to San Jose will also make Air China the only airline in China to offer nonstop connectivity to the Capital of Silicon Valley. The new flights will also prove to be advantageous for business and leisure tourists as well.

A spokesperson of Air China while providing details of new schedule said that the outbound flight would depart from Shanghai at 13:00 hours (local time) and arrive in San Jose at 10:10 hours (local time). The return flight would make its departure from San Jose at 12:00 hours (local time) and reach Shanghai at 16:40 hours (next day).

The flights on the new Shanghai-San Jose route will be operated with the help of an Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The customers booking business class tickets for travel on the route will be offered 180-degree flat seats, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art personal in-flight entertainment systems, amongst many other amenities. The flights would be operated thrice weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Air China has decided to celebrate the launch of the new service with promotional fares. The airline has launched a series of time-bound special offers until August 31, 2016. As part of its special offer, the airline’s frequent flyer PhoenixMiles members would be able to redeem 51,000 km for round-trip tickets purchased for travel on the route before December 31, 2016. Moreover, the PhoenixMiles members would also be able to take advantage of an extra 50 percent of mileage accrual for Business Class and an extra 30 percent for Economy Class. This can however be done by registering for “Extra Mileage Award” on the airline’s PhoenixMiles website.
