Air China’s maiden Beijing-Honolulu flight takes off

The much-awaited Air China flights on Beijing-Honolulu route announced last year took off on its maiden journey recently. The Airbus A330-200 landed amid much pomp and show at the Honolulu International Airport. The cheers and the rousing reception is a good sign for the passengers who now have another option to travel on this sector. The first flight landed with 270 passengers on board.

However, this is not good news for the domestic carrier, which had been operating service on this route as the lone service provider thus enjoying all the privileges. However, this carrier plans to offer airline tickets to its customers between the cities, thrice a week. As per the schedule, it is set to depart from Beijing Capital International Airport every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday at 1:30 pm. It will arrive in the Hawaiian capital city every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 4:30 pm. Return flights will depart Honolulu every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at 9:55 pm. These flights will arrive in Beijing two days later.

The airline serves as the flagship carrier of China and operates service to about 185 destinations across the world. Its mains hubs comprise Beijing Capital International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Honolulu is one of the most popular destinations in the Americas and in the recent past, the number of Asian travelers to the city has increased manifolds. Since the demand to the city is high, the airline is sure to profit by operating service.
