Air New Zealand opens new business lounge at Sydney airport

Air New Zealand has recently opened its new business class lounge at Sydney Airport. The lounge was inaugurated on May 23, 2015. The airline said that the new lounge is aimed at offering a premium pre-flight experience to its customers.

Media reports said that Air New Zealand CEO Christopher Luxon was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. The business class lounge at Sydney Airport has been partly modeled on the lines of the Los Angeles Star Alliance Lounge and has been designated as a ‘flagship lounge’. According to the reports, Air New Zealand had designed and currently managing the Los Angeles Star Alliance Lounge.

A spokesperson of Air New Zealand said that the newly-opened lounge at Sydney Airport will provide access to the airline’s business class customers, Konu Club members and top-tier Airpoints Elite and Gold frequent flyers. Apart from these, the access to the lounge will also be open for the business class and Gold-grade frequent flyers traveling on other Star Alliance member airlines such as Air India, Asiana Airlines, Air China, Air Canada, United Airlines, Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines. Moreover, those traveling in business class on Virgin Australia or holding Velocity Gold and Velocity Platinum membership cards can also gain entry to the lounge. The airline said that the revamped business class lounge is quite spacious and has been designed to accommodate a large number of travelers.
 
The reports further stated that Air New Zealand is also working on its second flagship business class lounge which is scheduled to open at the airline’s home port of Auckland during the middle of this year. The work on the airline’s third flagship lounge is also currently underway at Brisbane airport, which is expected to open by the end of 2015.
