Air New Zealand to introduce B787-9 on Auckland-Perth route

Kiwi travelers will be able to book plane tickets for travel between Auckland and Perth when Air New Zealand launches its new Dreamliner service late next year. Air New Zealand has announced it will be taking the delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in early 2014. The airline said that after its delivery, it will be ready to launch its first scheduled B787-9 Dreamliner service on Auckland-Perth route starting from October 15, 2014.

The Auckland-Perth service is being currently operated by Air New Zealand as part of its trans-Tasman alliance with Virgin Australia. The airline said that after it formally opens its Auckland-Perth service, it will expand its Dreamliner service to international destinations and would be introducing flights between Auckland and Tokyo as well as between Auckland and Shanghai.

According to Air New Zealand, its B787-9 will be offering 18 lie-flat seats in Business Premier cabin in a herringbone layout. The aircraft will also have a separate 21-seat Premium Economy cabin in a 2-3-2 configuration, each with its own bathroom facilities. The aircraft will also be configured with two Economy Class cabins and will be accommodating 263 passengers, including 14 Skycouch rows.
