Air Tahiti Nui to upgrade A340 fleet, expand business class

Air Tahiti Nui, a low-cost carrier, is following into the footsteps of big players in the aviation industry. The airline has announced that it will upgrade its Airbus A340-300 aircrafts fleet and would be offering expanded business class services to its customers when the upgrade finally completes. The airline will be investing a total of $17 million for the upgrade, which is due to be completed within two years.

The airline says that the upgrades are necessary for long-haul flights, which on routes like Tahiti-Dubai or Tahiti-Abu Dhabi via Los Angeles takes around 34 to 35 hours and includes two stops. Air Tahiti Nui said that the upgrades are already underway and cabin reconfigurations are in process and state-of-the-art entertainment systems are being installed. The airline said that the first class customers might have already been realizing the change beginning this February. The new additions in the first class cabin include complimentary travel bag, a refreshing towel, and other amenities.

Air Tahiti Nui said that the customers booking cheap business class tickets would be seated in a 32-seat business class cabin with tropical blue seats. The cabin is being expanded to 32 seats now instead of the existing 24 seats. The seat pitch would be 60 inch and the customers would be offered more legroom than previously. To attract more business class travelers, the airline has from time to time offered special packages providing a complimentary 3-night stay in Tahiti. Last year, the special package was on flights to Australia and New Zealand from Los Angeles.
