Airberlin plans 45 percent more flights to US in winter 2017-18

Airberlin is moving ahead with its route network expansion and further strengthening its footprint to the United States. Leading German carrier after expanding its route network to the U.S. during the upcoming summer season is now planning to increase the number of its flights to this country by nearly 45 percent in winter 2017-18.

 

Media reports said that Airberlin would be offering a total of 58 nonstop flights every week to the U.S. from the coming winter schedule starting in October this year. The airline will be serving the U.S. routes from its main hubs in Berlin and Dusseldorf. With the increased frequencies, the airline will be conducting year-round flights to all eight U.S. destinations.

 

According to the reports, Airberlin will be launching additional flights to three new destinations in the U.S. from Dusseldorf, thus bringing the total number of flights to 18 per week. Orlando will be served with five flights per week, while San Francisco and Boston would each get four-time weekly flights. Airberlin is the only airline which will be serving these three destinations from Dusseldorf. Apart from these destinations, the airline will be offering two additional flights per week on the existing New York route. Moreover, Airberlin will also be conducting nonstop year-round flights to Fort Myers, Miami and Los Angeles from Dusseldorf.

 

A spokesperson of Airberlin said that the airline will be offering four flights to San Francisco from Berlin-Tegel per week for the first time in the coming winter schedule. In addition to this, San Francisco will also be served twice daily on Sundays out of the airline’s hubs. The airline has also stated that it would be launching year-round flights to Miami, Chicago and New York from Berlin. Airberlin will be operating all of its long-haul flights to various U.S. destinations with the help of its Airbus A330-200 aircrafts, with each aircraft offering 271 seats in economy class and 19 full flat seats in business class cabins.
