Airlines introducing new designs and concepts in premium cabins

Travel in premium cabins has become profitable now and airlines are elated over this development. The airline industry is investing heavily in retrofitting the first class and business class cabins. This has been happening for the past several months with an array of new designs and concepts being constantly introduced in premium cabin space. With new airframes such as Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 making foray into the market, many airlines have jumped into the fray and retrofitting their cabin for catering to wealthy customers.

By investing in the new designs and concepts, much is at stake for these carriers. After all, it’s the image that finally matters. Passengers love flying on a premium airline. This further boosts the positive image of the airline and increases the overall sales. Various international carriers such as Etihad Airways, Asiana Airlines, Air France, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways and Air Canada are making their best efforts to keep their premium customers happy and satisfied.

Here’s a preview of these airlines on how they are taking the very concept of luxury travel completely to a new level.

UAE’s national carrier Etihad Airways has recently announced it will be introducing 3-room residences in its first class on the newly-acquired Airbus A380 aircraft. Each suite will have individual showers. The move of Etihad has come after Singapore Airlines upgraded its premium cabins in its redesigned Boeing 777-300 aircraft to offer great flying experience to its customers. In fact, Singapore Airlines is so much enthused by its success that all the aircrafts in its current Boeing 777-300 fleet are being upgraded with new design.

South Korea’s second largest carrier Asiana Airlines has also moved ahead on this front. The airline’s decision to embed magicians is aimed at augmenting its first class service on its new Airbus A380 aircraft. The customers traveling in first class will be offered 32 inch personal screens for in-flight entertainment and access to onboard lounge area.

Even Air France is introducing its first class cabins in September 2014. The cabins will be featuring lightly colored, refined appointments.

Leading carriers like Qatar Airways, Scandinavian Airlines and Air Canada have however decided to introduce new concepts and designs in their business class cabins. Qatar Airways has decided to install “super” business class cabins in all its new Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 aircrafts. The airline decided to focus more on its business class product as most of its premium travel takes in the business class cabin. Scandinavian Airlines has also upgraded its business class cabins featuring Wi-Fi and new state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment systems.
