AirTran Airways to stop flights to Atlantic City

AirTran Airways recently announced that it has decided to stop its flights to Atlantic City after January 6, 2012.

The airline said in a statement that it is compelled to take the decision in the wake of financial difficulties and constantly increasing fuel prices.

The airline will operate its flights to Atlantic City for the last time on January 6, 2012.

Now, Spirit Airlines will remain the only carrier to continue with its flight services to the city.

AirTran Airways is currently operating twice-daily services to its hub in Atlanta ever since June 2009.

Leading airlines, such as Delta Air Lines, Continental Airlines, West Jet and US Airways have stopped their flight operations since 2000.

AirTran Airways has also announced that it will stop flight services to three other airports, which include Virginia’s Newport News Williamsburg International Airport, Illinois’ Quad City International Airport and North Carolina’s Asheville Regional Airport.
