Alaska Airlines adds three Salk Lake routes to its itinerary

Alaska Airlines announced its decision to add three Salk Lake destinations to its itinerary. The Seattle-based airline apparently is trying to ward off competition from a rival commercial airline based in the country.

As per the announcement, the airline is set to launch nonstop flights to Las Vegas and Boise on June 16 and San Francisco on June 18. The latest move from the giant commercial airline indicates that a silent cold war is brewing in the skies of the United States. There is no reason to doubt this fact, as this announcement closely followed a similar decision made by Atlanta based airline to expand its footprints from the Seattle Tacoma International Airport. Interestingly, Seattle is the primary hub for this airline and plays a pivotal role on a daily basis.

With the three route announcements, the airline would overall fly nonstop to eight new destinations by the summer of 2014. It would launch service to Los Angeles, Portland in Oregon, and San Jose in California from Salt Lake City. It would operate twice-daily round-trip service to Las Vegas and one each to San Francisco and Boise. These flights aim at strengthening its West Coast network. No matter the war, ultimately the passengers are set to benefit from it all in terms of more connections, competitive fares, and other services.
