Alaska Airlines announces July results, ticket bookings increase

Alaska Airlines operational results for the month of July were recently announced by its parent company Alaska Air Group Inc. The company also announced the results of its subsidiary Horizon Air.

Both the airlines reported 26 percent increase in ticket bookings in July after they passed on tax holiday savings to the customers, which was necessitated due to FAA partial shutdown recently.

Alaska Airlines said that there was a 6.8 percent increase in its traffic as compared to 5.5 percent increase in July 2010. With the increase in traffic, the airline said that this resulted in 1.1-point increase in load factor to a record 88.5 percent in July.

The airline also said that 90.9 percent of its flights reported timely arrivals in July 2011 as compared to 88.7 percent last year during the same period.
