Alaska Airlines launches flights between Philadelphia and Seattle

Alaska Airlines recently launched its inaugural flights services between Philadelphia and Seattle.

Alaska Airlines has become the second carrier in the past three months to start service at Philadelphia International Airport.

Virgin America is another carrier to launch its flights to Philadelphia from Los Angeles and San Francisco in April this year.

The airline in a statement said that it will be offering one daily flight to Philadelphia International Airport from Seattle’s Tacoma International Airport. By introducing flights between these two cities, Alaska Airlines aims to compete with US Airways, which currently operates four nonstop round-trip flights daily to Seattle.

The airline is offering air tickets starting $490 round-trip with advance purchase.

With its flights to Philadelphia, Alaska Airlines is aggressively expanding its network in the East and Midwest. Until now, the airline had been primarily focusing on the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and California.

According to the airline, Philadelphia has become the 62nd city on its network and the 16th east of the Rockies.
