Alaska Airlines launching nonstop flights to Albuquerque Sept 18

More cheap airfares options to Albuquerque are coming your way when the new service is launched in September this year. Alaska Airlines has recently announced it will be launching a new roundtrip nonstop service between Sunport and Seattle starting from September 18, 2014. The airline will be operating the flights on a daily basis.

The announcement has come at a time when service levels changes by Southwest Airlines are expected in coming months. The city authorities have termed Alaska Airlines’ decision to begin service here as a big announcement.

A spokesperson of Alaska Airlines said that the new flights would arrive at Albuquerque airport at 3 pm and depart for Seattle at around 4 pm. The spokesperson lauded the decision of the airline saying that it was important to begin service at an underserved market like Albuquerque.
Alaska Airlines has still not been pledged any revenue guarantee by Albuquerque city authorities. R.J. Berry, Mayor of Albuquerque said that all efforts would be made to sustain flights to the city which Alaska Airlines is scheduled to start. He hoped that it will be a smooth sailing for the airline with more travelers opting to fly with it. Berry said that it would be beneficial particularly for the people of the upper areas of Seattle and northwest region with greater connectivity. If the airline succeeds in sustaining at Albuquerque, then it is highly likely that Alaska Airlines would be looking forward to other expansions as well.
  
Southwest Airlines which is already serving the city is planning service changes out of Sunport. Frontier Airlines was also operating flights out of Sunport but stopped flying early this year. JetBlue Airways is also operating flights on Albuquerque-New York route, which is doing exceedingly well.
