Alaska Airlines to launch five new flights from Salt Lake City

Alaska Airlines has announced its decision to launch flights from Salt Lake City to various destinations within the United States. The airline seems to be up for a strategic change under which, it intends to commence service to Portland in Oregon, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Jose in California. The new service is set to debut on June 9, 2014.

Besides, the above-mentioned city, the airline also has plans to add a third service between Salt Lake City and Seattle/Tacoma, giving travelers yet another chance to book plane tickets and fly to their respective destinations. The airline first commenced service on Seattle-Salt Lake City on April 4, 2013.

It will use the services of Boeing 737 aircrafts on most of these routes. Many airlines in the country are expanding at a fast pace and the growing competition is prompting other carriers to spread their footprints as well. Apparently, this move of the airline is inspired from the fact that its partner Delta Air Lines earlier added routes at its Seattle/Tacoma hub. Interestingly, Salt Lake City is one of the prime hubs of Delta.
