Alaska Airlines traffic increases 8.4 percent in Dec 2012

Alaska Air Group Inc. recently announced the December and year-end operational results for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
 
The company in a statement said that Alaska Airlines passenger traffic increased 8.4 percent in December 2012, on a 9.9 percent increase in capacity as compared to the same month in 2011. This, however, resulted in a 1.1 point decrease in load factor to 86.3 percent.

According to a company spokesperson, both domestic and international flights of Alaska Airlines reported 83.3 percent on-time arrivals in December last year, when compared with 85.4 percent in December 2011. Alaska Airlines reported a record load factor of 86.6 percent for all of 2012. The airline also carried a record 18.5 million passengers. Apart from operating flights to the Lower 48 and Hawaii Islands, Alaska Airlines also operates international flights to Canada and Mexico.

The company’s another subsidiary Horizon Air reported an increase of 5.3 percent traffic in December 2012, on a 4.6 percent increase in capacity as compared with December 2011.
