Japan’s largest carrier All Nippon Airways or ANA recently announced it will be upgrading its Tokyo-Honolulu route with new double-decker, spacious Airbus A380 aircraft. The new service would be launched in spring 2019.
Media reports said that the airline wants to commemorate the addition of its three new Airbus A380 aircrafts and has decided invite both amateur and pro artists for submitting designs that would enthuse and excite people so that they may consider planning a vacation in the tropical island paradise of Honolulu.
The artists would be rewarded as well. The winner of Grand Prize would be receiving a pair of roundtrip tickets for traveling between Honolulu and Tokyo in economy class. However, the runners up of the contest would be presented original ANA souvenirs. The contestants would be required to submit their designs till November 30, 2016 either by visiting the official website or through email. The winners would be declared in February 2017 by the ANA Contest Office.
All Nippon Airways was founded in 1952. It is currently Japan’s largest airline in terms of passenger numbers and revenues. The airline serves 116 domestic destinations and 83 international routes, and owns an impressive fleet of nearly 250 aircrafts.
ANA is a member of Star Alliance ever since 1999. The airline is into partnership with United Airlines on Asia and trans-Pacific routes. Apart from this, the airline is also into partnerships with Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines and Lufthansa on Japan-Europe routes.
Honolulu International Airport currently remains the largest airport with flights to Japan outside Asia. The airport handles 19 daily flights to Japan, thus making it a nearly hourly beach shuttle. Honolulu is also the eighth largest airport in the world handling flights services to international destinations. Honolulu airport receives more Japanese flights than other Asian destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Manila or Singapore.
