Allegiant Air to introduce five new U.S. routes from Las Vegas

Allegiant Air has announced it will be introducing flights to five new markets within the United States from February 2015. The airline will operate new flights from its main hub in Las Vegas, where it is also currently headquartered. The new markets also include Indianapolis. The airline will be operating thrice round-trip flights every week.

The airline had earlier announced that it will be flying to 14 new destinations and further indicated that it will be adding larger cities in its network, which it normally doesn’t target. Apart from Indianapolis, the airline said that it will start operating new flights to Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Richmond and Omaha.

A top spokesperson of Allegiant Air in a statement said that the airline will be competing on the routes where Southwest Airlines has recently curtailed its frequencies to Indianapolis from the existing thrice daily to twice per day.

According to the new schedule, they will now be operating thrice weekly flights to Indianapolis on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting from February 27. The flights will begin departure from Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport from 10 am, while the return flights will begin departing from Indianapolis International Airport starting from 5.30 pm.

In addition to new markets, Allegiant Air will be start operating flights to four additional established Florida cities, including Orlando, Clearwater, Punta Gorda and Fort Lauderdale. The new Florida destinations where the airline is planning to operate flights include Cincinnati, Austin, Hagerstown, Columbus and Syracuse.

The airline has adopted a new strategy of starting flights to larger cities where larger carriers have stopped flying or curtailed operations.
