Allegiant to Fly Nonstop to Tampa Bay from February 2015

The ultra low-cost carrier, Allegiant Air recently revealed its plans to start operating nonstop flights from Richmond International Airport (RIC) in Virginia to St. Petersburg–Clearwater International Airport (PIE) near Tampa Bay, Florida starting February 13, 2015.

The airline is offering introductory one-way fares to make the launch of this new sector. It is also offering free flights through a contest which will allow travelers to win two tickets from Richmond to Tampa for the year. The free giveaways are limited to one flight per month. This route is the only nonstop option which the travelers on RIC-PIE route can avail on Mondays and Fridays.

Senior Vice President of Planning for Allegiant Travel Company, Jude Bricker said in a statement that the airline will exclusively offer low-cost nonstop service from Richmond to Tampa Bay, latter being one of the most popular leisure destinations.

Director of Marketing and Air Service Development for the airline, Troy Bell also commented that the new nonstop service will be able to cater the travel needs of more than 40,000 passengers flying between Richmond and Tampa Bay without having to board a connecting flight. The Las Vegas-based carrier has also announced its plans to offer direct flights to Indianapolis in Indiana; Omaha in Nebraska; Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and Hagerstown in Maryland.

The flight 849 will depart from Richmond International Airport at 4.05 pm and arrive in St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport at 6.10 pm. The returning flight 848 will leave from Tampa Bay at 1.25 pm and arrive in Richmond at 3.25 pm. The customers during this two hour journey will have to pay for carry-on and checked bags, refreshments and advance seat assignments.
