American Airlines bringing changes to attract business travelers

Airlines are aggressively competing with each other to attract premium customers or those who are willing to pay higher airfares for their travel. American Airlines has decided to earn big by effecting some changes to its flight schedules at its major hub at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

The new changes are designed to suit business travelers more as they will have to spend less time at the airport for catching connecting flights. The changes will come into effect in late March this year.

American Airlines in a statement said that it will introduce “rebanking” system at the airport. Explaining about this new system the airline said that the flights at DFW will be timed such that arrivals and departures would be made during short intervals in order that the business travelers, particularly, have to spend less time in taking connecting flights.

Media reports said that American Airlines has already experimented the new rebanking system at its Miami hub during August 2014. The airline has also decided to introduce this system at its Chicago hub as well this year.

The reports however said that the change at Chicago hub will prove to be more complicated because United Airlines is also in the process of rebanking its flights so that it may vastly enhance its performance and improve profitability.
 
American Airlines is currently operating 800 flights daily at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The arrival and departure times of these flights are usually between 5 am and 11 pm. With the implementation of the new rebanking system, the airline will now be operating 10 scheduled flights daily during peak hours. The highest peaks for such flights would be from 8 am to 10 am in the morning and from 4 pm to about 6.30 pm in the evenings.
