American Airlines expand joint business pact with Qantas Airways

American Airlines and Qantas Airways have decided to extend their joint business agreement, media reports recently said. The two airlines are members of leading global airline alliance Oneworld. The joint business pact will now cover two new routes between Australia and the United States.

The reports said that American Airlines will be launching nonstop flights to Los Angeles from Sydney starting from December 17, 2015. A couple of days later in the same year Qantas Airways will also introduce flights services between San Francisco and Sydney effective from December 20.

According to the reports, the flights services on both Los Angeles-Sydney and San Francisco-Sydney routes will initially be operated on peak days, but would later on increased to six-times weekly services in January 2016.

American Airlines will operate the flights between Los Angeles and Sydney with the help  of a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft configured with three classes. The customers booking business class tickets would be offered fully-flat business seating.

Qantas Airways will however operate a reconfigured Boeing 747-400 aircraft, which will have the same interiors found on its Airbus A380 aircraft. Apart from serving the San Francisco-Sydney route, the airline will also continue to conduct its flights services on Los Angeles-Sydney route as well.

Douglas Parker, Chairman and CEO of American Airlines, said, “”The airline has responded to the demands of its customers for expanding the flights services to important business destinations across the Pacific. It will be a matter of great delight that the airline will be operating the route with the help of its flagship Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to Sydney from its key gateway at Los Angeles International Airport.””
