American Airlines launches 3 additional PTI-NYC flights

Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI) became a major beneficiary because of recent merger of US Airways with American Airlines. The airport has now gained three additional nonstop flights to New York City.

American Airlines recently launched three extra direct flights to New York City’s LaGuardia Airport from Piedmont Triad. The flights started operations from April 1, 2014. The airline is now offering two morning flights as well as one late-afternoon flight. On Saturdays, the airline would be operating nonstop flight only at 10 am.

The first flight would be operated at 10 am, while the second flight would depart from PTI at 5.05 pm. American Airlines would operate the flights on New York City-Piedmont Triad route with the help of American Eagle. Currently, Delta Air Lines is also operating four nonstop flights between the two destinations. The airline is operating flights at 10.35 am and 5.55 pm. The airline also resumed the afternoon flight in March this year, which is being operated nonstop at 2 pm daily.

Aviation experts said that with American Airlines now entering the fray the passengers will now stand to gain. The passengers can now look forward to cheap airfares because of this stiff competition. The experts said that providing multiple options to the passengers for travel to the Big Apple is surely a good development. The fare competition will though depend on flight timings and the stability of competing services.

The officials at Piedmont Triad International Airport have expressed happiness at the launch of additional flights to LaGuardia Airport. They said that number of seats would be increased significantly to 11,504 in April 2014 as compared to 7,402 in April 2013.

Now, the airport will serve the New York region with a total of 11 daily nonstop flights. This will make it the largest destination from PTI over Charlotte, which is being served with only nine flights.
