American Airlines launching Burlington-Charlotte flights Aug 18

American Airlines recently announced it will be launching its new nonstop flights from Burlington to Charlotte in August this year. The new service will start operating between Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and Burlington International Airport (BTV) from August 18, 2015. The flight tickets for travel between the two cities are available for purchase now.

The airline in a statement said that it will be deploying an 80-seat Embraer E-175 aircraft to operate the flights on the route. The aircraft is configured in two classes – First Class and Main Cabin – and will also be featuring in-flight Wi-Fi service as well.

American Airlines has presently become the world’s largest airline operator after US Airways merged with it. A spokesperson of American Airlines said that the new daily nonstop flights between Burlington and Charlotte will be operated by Republic Airlines under the US Airways Express brand. The new service will be complementing the existing flights to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia from Burlington.

The inaugural nonstop service on the route will arrive in Burlington from Charlotte on August 18 at 10.55 pm, while the inaugural return flight will depart from Burlington to Charlotte on August 19 at 8.05 am.

Charlotte is presently one of the major hubs in the United States, and is the second largest hub of American Airlines, after Dallas/Fort Worth. According to the Airports Council International rankings, Charlotte has also been ranked eighth nationwide in passenger traffic.

American Airlines and US Airways, along with their regional partners US Airways Express and American Eagle, are together providing an average of about 6,700 flights services to nearly 350 destinations in more than 50 countries around the world.
