American Airlines launching flights on New York-Edinburgh route

American Airlines recently announced it will be launching new flights to Edinburgh from New York. The new daily service will operate between Scotland’s Edinburgh Airport (EDI) and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) initially until September 2015.

The airline has indicated that the Edinburgh-New York JFK route will be served utilizing a Boeing 757-200 aircraft. The customers traveling from New York JFK can also easily connect to other international destinations as well, such as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, Montreal, Buenos Aires and Cancun.

According to the airline, the flights from Edinburgh will make its departure at 9.15 am and arrive at New York JFK at 11.45 am next day. The return flight will depart from New York JFK at 7.10 pm and reach Edinburgh at 7.15 am the following day.

David Thomas, American Airlines’ Sales Director UK and Ireland, said, “There’s really a nice mix in the market in Edinburgh and its surrounding areas. A lot of SME companies exist here and businesspersons frequently travel to New York and onwards to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The airline is extremely excited to launch the new service between the two cities and hopes to gain immense popularity.”

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport, has also welcomed American Airlines’ decision to launch its service from Edinburgh. He said, “It’s a matter of great delight to welcome American Airlines into the Edinburgh Airport family. The flight times of the new daily service to New York JFK is excellent and is expected to become a popular choice for both leisure and business customers who are looking forward to connect to other destinations as well in North America, South America and Canada.”
