American Airlines launching nonstop LAX-Sydney flights Dec 17

American Airlines recently announced it will be launching new nonstop flights to Sydney from Los Angeles later this year. The tickets are already up for sale for new flights, which will start operating from December 17, 2015.

The airline had earlier said in June this year that the new route is part of its proposed enhanced joint business relationship with Qantas Airways. The new service will help the airline to expand its global network further with the addition of a fifth continent and strengthening Los Angeles International Airport’s position as a world-class hub.

Andrew Nocella, Chief Marketing Officer of American Airlines, said, “The expanding of global footprint to another continent is a significant step forward for the airline. The expansion strategy has prompted the airline to make major investments in its network and offer the best possible travel experience to the customers.”

American Airlines will be deploying its flagship Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to Australia. The customers would be offered various amenities onboard their flights such as fully lie-flat seats when booking business class tickets. Among other offerings in the aircraft include luxurious interiors, Wi-Fi service, state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment options, walk-up bar, power sockets and USB ports. The customers would also be offered improved experience at the airport with revamped gate and ticketing areas, and faster and more reliable kiosks.

A spokesperson of American Airlines in a statement said that with its enhanced relationship with Qantas Airways the airline will be launching flights between San Francisco and Sydney. The fights services on the route will initially be operated on peak days and would be increased with up to six flights per week in 2016. The airline will deploy a Boeing 747-400 aircraft to operate flights on San Francisco-Sydney route.
