American Airlines offering first-class service on Domestic routes

American Airlines has now become the only carrier in the United States to provide first-class service to its customers on domestic routes. If you are ready to shell out $8,000, then get ready for a royal treatment with private berths, vented compartments housing socialites’ Chihuahuas and three-course meals boating shrimp scampi.

The first-class service will be provided to well-heeled customers traveling to Los Angeles or San Francisco from New York. The first class tickets on the domestic New York-Los Angeles and New York-San Francisco routes will be the costliest.

American Airlines will be offering 10 first-class seats on flights to be operated on these routes utilizing Airbus Group NV A321 aircrafts. The first class cabins are currently the only ones to be offered on any route within the United States.

The first class seats t o be offered to the customers will be exquisite. The aisle will be flanked by only one berth on either side. The space to be occupied by first class seats usually contain over three-abreast rows. There will be no nosy co-travelers to shoulder surf. The privileged customers will be treated to award-winning wines and cucumber-infused water. The customers will also be provided noise-cancelling headphones for the 6-hour trip on the two routes. 

By introducing the only first-class cabins on domestic routes American Airlines is aiming to win back corporate contracts it had lost during its two-year bankruptcy and merger negotiations. A travel expert said that by doing this American Airlines has set itself apart from other U.S. carriers. The airline’s way of sending a message to the high end of the market is unique and absolutely perfect as it should have been.
