American Airlines passenger traffic marginally up this November

American Airlines flights services have managed to perform well in November 2012 despite Superstorm Sandy.

The airline in a statement said that its passenger traffic had increased slightly this November. However, the airline’s key revenue measure slipped. The airline blamed the decline in its revenue on Superstorm Sandy which led to flight delays.

Providing the details of its November outcome, American Airlines said that its passenger revenue (measured as one mile flown by each seat) declines 2.3 percent in November 2012 as compared to the same month in 2011.

The airline, however, said that its revenue earnings would have increased by at least 1 percent if it wouldn’t have been affected by Superstorm Sandy and the resulting flight delays.

The airline disclosed that its passenger traffic increased slightly to 1 percent. According to the airline, its paying passengers flew 1.64 billion miles this November, up 0.7 percent, as compared to the same month in 2011.
