American Airlines to equip its cabin crew with Samsung Galaxy Note devices during flights

American Airlines recently indicated it is planning to equip its cabin crew members with Samsung Galaxy Note devices for use onboard the flights.

The airline in a statement said that it is likely to purchase 17,000 first-generation Samsung Galaxy Note devices and provide these to its flight attendants during the flights.

The airline stated that the Galaxy Note devices will start getting deployed later this year. The rollout of the devices is expected to continue through mid-2013.

According to American Airlines, the combination smartphone/tablet will be able to be used by the flight attendants to access passenger information, such as seat numbers, customers name and special assistance needs. The devices will also be used to record the meal and beverage preferences of the customers.

The airline after successfully completing a pilot program has now decided to equip its flights attendants with Samsung Galaxy Note devices during the flights. Forty flight attendants tested several devices and gave their feedback, after which the airline selected Galaxy Note devices for deployment.
