American Airlines want to upgrade its customer service, particularly on domestic flights, and establish its reputation as an airline that really cares for all those traveling in coach class. Media reports recently said that the customers traveling on domestic routes in economy class on American Airlines can now look forward to being served complimentary snacks.
The airline has already started free food rollout starting February 2016 to select transcontinental destinations. American Airlines has also announced it will be further expanding free food rollout on all domestic flights by the month of April this year.
American Airlines will now be joining United Airlines in serving free snacks in the feed-a-passenger stakes. Delta Air Lines first started serving complimentary snacks to its customers traveling in coach class on domestic routes and has ever since continued with the service.
A spokesperson of American Airlines said that the customers traveling on flights departing before 9.45 am would be offered complimentary Biscoff cookies. However, those traveling on domestic routes after 9.45 am would have more options available. They would be able to choose either a packet of pretzels or cookies. Those who get bored of the complimentary pretzel/cookie rotation can always purchase from the airline’s extensive range of Food for Sale items to be available in economy class on all the domestic routes.
According to the spokesperson, the airline would be offering complimentary meals in the Main Cabin on all its flights services between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Hawaii. This service would be made available starting from May this year. The spokesperson further indicated that apart from hot meals and free snacks on flights to/from Hawaii, the airline would also expand its complimentary in-flight entertainment package on domestic routes.
American Airlines is already offering complimentary meal service in Main Cabin (Economy Class) on all its flights services to/from Asia and Europe. The customers traveling to Latin American destinations are also being offered complimentary meals departing during normal mealtime windows.
