American Airlines to offer special retro amenity kits in Jan 2016

American Airlines, which recently merged with US Airways to become the world’s largest airline, recently announced it will be launching special amenity kits to honor the profound legacies of many smaller airlines that have helped it to become the largest airline operator in the world today.

The airline in a statement said that the new retro amenity kits would be available to the customers traveling through January 2016. These special kits will be branded with the old-school logos and colors of various carriers such as Trans World Airlines, Reno Air, PSA, Piedmont, America West, Allegheny and AirCal – all of them having been purchased or merged with American Airlines or US Airways over the past several years.

American Airlines indicated that the retro amenity kits to be offered to its customers booking business class flights on international routes will consist of noise-canceling headphone covers, a toothpaste and toothbrush, an eye mask, a pair of socks, and many other trinkets and cosmetic products.

The first class flyers on international routes will be offered the same retro amenity kits containing similar items offered in business class, along with slippers and pajamas as well, in larger packs. Those traveling in first class flights on transcontinental routes would also be offered special amenity kits.

The airline however said that its business class customers traveling on transcontinental flights would not be offered these special amenity kits, unless they are traveling on Miami-Los Angeles, New York-San Francisco and New York-Los Angeles routes.

These special retro amenity kits are being provided by American Airlines as part of its marketing effort so that it can successfully refresh its brand following its merger with US Airways.
