American Airlines to refurbish business class cabins on its Boeing fleets

American Airlines will be refurbishing its long-haul wide-body jets flying on international routes, media reports recently said.

According to reports, American Airlines is planning to reconfigure and refurbish the cabins of its Boeing 777-200ER fleet and nearly half of its Boeing 767-300ER fleet.

The airline will be installing new lie-flat business class seats on the Boeing aircrafts. Apart from this, it will also provide Wi-Fi connectivity on its international flights as well as offer more in-flight entertainment options to its customers.

The reports further stated that the overhaul of its three-class Boeing 777-200ER aircrafts might see the end of its “Flagship Suite” first class section.

The reports said that American Airlines will be replacing its First Class seats on Boeing 777-200ER aircrafts with 45 lie-flat business class seats and 45 main cabin extra seats. Currently, the aircraft has 247 seats, which will be converted to 260 with the new configuration.

Media reports quoted American Airlines as saying that reverting the Boeing 777-200ERs from the existing three-class to two-cabin service (Business Class and Coach) is to better match capacity and demand.

However, American Airlines has indicated that it will continue to have three cabins on the new Boeing 777-300ERs that it is all set to begin flying later this year.
