American Airlines tops Newsweek Green Rankings for 2012

American Airlines flights have made it to the top in the Newsweek’s annual environmental list for 2012. The airline recently announced that it is currently ranked as one of the top companies and has been widely acknowledged in the annual environmental list of the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. recently published by the popular Newsweek magazine.

American Airlines said that it has received the best ranking among U.S. carriers for the third consecutive year. The airline has also been acknowledged for the second best performance in the transportation and logistics category among the U.S. airlines.

The airline in a statement said that it is continue with its efforts to minimize its environmental impact throughout all its flights operations and will strive to maintain transparency of its efforts.

The airline acknowledged that a number of programs, including several grassroots initiatives, being currently implemented by the people of the United States, have vastly contributed to the success of American Airlines in significantly reducing its footprint.
