American to launch additional flight on New York-Wilmington route

Those planning to travel between Wilmington and New York City will have more options than before. American Airlines has announced it will be introducing an additional flight between New York City’s LaGuardia Airport and Wilmington International Airport next month.

The additional direct flight between the two cities will be operated once daily starting from February 12, 2015. The airline has planned to increase the frequencies on the route to cope up with the growing travel demand and also to make grounds for upgrading the services further.

Jon Rosborough, Director of Wilmington International Airport, said that it is a matter of great delight that American Airlines has decided to increase its frequencies out of Wilmington. This will help in promoting the city further and help to grow more traffic from here. This is undoubtedly a good sign for the airport. 

Meanwhile, recent media reports said that the prices of airfares are going to decline this year. According to a study, the customers traveling in North America and Europe can look forward to slightly cheap airfares in 2015 because of the increased capacity and passenger demand, coupled with a sharp drop in fuel prices. All these factors will translate in cheap tickets in these regions.

According to a year-over-year forecast, the flights originating in North America and those flying into Dallas will see airfares dropping by nearly 11 percent. The forecasts further stated that the Washington D.C.-bound travelers can expect a decline in ticket prices by 7 percent, while those traveling to Tampa are likely to see a 6 percent drop in the prices of tickets.
