AMR Corp. and US Airways to operate as American Airlines Group

AMR Corporation and US Airways Group have finally settled the merger and closed it recently. The two airlines jointly announced the completion of the merger proceedings. Post merger both the airlines are set to fly under the name of American Airlines Group Inc. Both these airlines will now operate under the flagship of American Airlines.

Passengers will now officially be able to book airline tickets with the world’s largest airline. As per the statistics, the new airline will operate 6,700 daily flights to over 330 destinations in about 50 countries across the globe. This airline has the assets, and the capacity to face the toughest of the competition on the global front. Passengers are set to benefit with the accessibility of more routes, destinations, and increased services with the airline. US Airways is scheduled to renounce its Star Alliance membership on March 30, 2014. It will enter the Oneworld membership immediately on March 31, 2014. As a member of the Oneworld alliance the airline will pass on the benefits to its passengers.

Passengers will benefit from the codeshare agreement between the two airlines. There will be more choices across nine hubs in the United States. Oneworld members like British Airways, Iberia, and Finnair will offer connections beyond the Atlantic and Japan Airlines and Qantas will offer connections across the Pacific. The airline is hopeful that its future policies will benefit the passengers and help ease their travel experience on both long haul and short haul flights.
