ArteBA 2011, the most contemporary art fair promoting Argentine and Latin American art, will be held from May 19-23, 2011, at La Rural convention center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This important art fair aimed at promoting the Argentine and Latin American art in the world market is being regularly held in Buenos Aires ever since the establishment of the arteBA Foundation 21 years ago. With a record attendance of over 120,000 visitors in its 5-day span in past years, the art fair has become an essential date on the cultural calendar. In 2010, the art fair was visited by more than 300 foreign visitors, among them, major collectors and art patrons, directors and curators of international collections and museums, and critics and representatives of the most influential media and institutions in the visual arts. At this 20th edition of ArteBA, the 2nd edition of Arcos Dorados Latin American Painting Competition will also be taking place. The aim of the competition will be to encourage young artists under the age of 35, from Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. The curators will be choosing five artists who will be presenting a hitherto-unexhibited work in the course of the fair. The selected artists will receive US$8,000 for their participation, and will be competing for the Acquisition Prize.
