Asiana Airlines expanding codeshare pact with United Airlines

It may be noted that Asiana Airlines is presently offering five times weekly nonstop flights between Chicago and Seoul. The service on the route is conducted on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays every week. However, the flights on Saturdays will instead be operated on Thursdays from March 26 till October 28, 2017.

Media reports said that once the codeshare agreement becomes effective from March 17, Asiana Airlines and United Airlines would be implementing codeshare pact on all Asiana Airlines-operated flights to continental U.S., including destinations such as Seattle, San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles.

A spokesperson of Asiana Airlines said, “The partnership with United Airlines is going to be further deepened and would be a continuous process. This is important to achieve optimum customer satisfaction for all those traveling to the United States. Moreover, the expanding of codeshare agreement with United Airlines is also a part of the leading Korean carrier’s strategy to strengthen its network to/from the United States.”

With the expanded codeshare agreement, the number of flights in the United States being operated by Asiana Airlines in association with its U.S. partner United Airlines will now increase to 62 flights per week from the existing 46 weekly flights. Both the airlines had first entered into codeshare pact in April 2003. This is for the first time that the partnership is being expanded.
