Austrian Airlines is set to launch its new nonstop flights to Los Angeles from Vienna starting from April 10, 2017. Media reports had earlier said that the airline was last month considering opening a new route to the U.S. West Coast next year. The airline is however yet to officially confirm the service. Though travel companies have already started displaying the details of the new route to the prospective customers.
According to the reports, Austrian Airlines, which is presently a member of Lufthansa Group, would be for the first time providing seamless nonstop connectivity between the U.S. West Coast and Central Europe.
The airline would be deploying a Boeing 777-200 aircraft to operate flights on the new Vienna-Los Angeles route. The service will be operated five times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The airline will adhere to this schedule from April 10 to June 12, 2017. However, the airline would be upgrading the route with a daily service effective from June 13.
The flight schedule for the new service from April 10 to June 12, 2017 has also been publicized. Flight OS081 will depart from Vienna at 10:00 hours and arrive in Los Angeles at 13:30 hours. The inbound Flight OS082 will make its departure from Los Angeles at 15:05 hours and reach Vienna at 12:00 hours following day. The duration of the outbound flight would be 12 hrs 30 mins, while the duration of return flight would be 11 hrs 55 mins.
Media reports said that it has now become possible for Central Europe to be directly connected to the U.S. West Coast with nonstop service by Austrian Airlines. Earlier, the travelers were either required to change flights at some other Europe hub other than Vienna or within the mainland USA. The airline officials are hopeful of the success of the new route as the main aim would be to attract transfer passengers in a big way. Austrian Airlines has extensive network in the former Eastern Europe.
