BA to launch A380 service on London-Johannesburg route

British Airways (BA) has announced its plans to operate the Airbus A380 between London and Johannesburg beginning February 12, 2014. The airline has picked the lively South African city as its third destination to be connected with the superjumbo jet.

Initially BA plans to start thrice-weekly service between London Heathrow Airport and OR Tambo International Airport. The carrier will eventually increase frequency to six flights a week from March 10 onwards. It received delivery of its first double-decker last month. The homecoming of the new jet from France witnessed a rousing reception at the Heathrow Airport.

As per the airline, A380 is far bigger, spacious, comfortable, quieter, and greener than the existing jets it is set to replace. It is expected to give customers traveling on business class tickets a new feel of luxury on their journey between the two international cities.

This aircraft is equipped with 469 seats on both decks. Tickets for the exciting journey on the massive superjumbo are already up for sale. The airline is offering inaugural discounted fares to mark the inclusion of A380 into its fleet.

The airline is expecting a positive response in terms of passenger traffic on the new aircraft that will connect London with the commercial capital of South Africa.
