Beijing among top 10 luxury retail destinations in the world

Beijing is among the four cities in China that has been placed in the list of top 10 favorite destinations for luxury retailers in the world for 2016. The capital city of China, Beijing, has attained ninth rank. Among other three Chinese cities include Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei. With the new rankings, Beijing has now joined New York, Paris and London as one the most favorable cities for global luxury retailers.

Hong Kong was placed second after London, while Shanghai made it to the sixth rank. Earlier, Beijing forged ahead to become mainland China’s top retail destination, beating Shanghai in 2010. During this year Beijing was ranked sixth in the world’s top 10 favorite destinations for luxury retailers. The year 2016 however proved to be different with Shanghai being ranked sixth and Beijing making it to the ninth place.

The city of Beijing is spread in a huge area of over 16,000 square kilometers and is home to over 14 million people.
