The Beijing Auto Show 2014, popularly called Auto China, is all set to be held from April 20 through April 29, 2014. It is presently among the world’s important auto shows, rivaling to those in Detroit and Frankfurt. This show has achieved fame over the years.
During past years, the Auto China attracted over 800,000 visitors, with 78,000 visiting from foreign countries. Some 2,500 exhibitors from 16 countries showcased their latest technologies and products. Nearly 1,125 cars were exhibited. These included 95 new energy vehicles, 74 concept cars and 120 world debuts. The show is either held in Beijing or Shanghai every year.
This year Auto China 2014 will be held in Beijing. The show will begin with a Media preview on April 20. Industry professionals would grace the event with their participation on April 21 and April 22. The general public would be offered access to the show from April 23 to April 29. The exhibition space for the show has been earmarked in an area of over 230,000 square meters, including 70,000 square meters for auto suppliers and 160,000 square meters dedicated to vehicles.
The theme for Auto China 2014 will be “Driving for a Better Future”. The main focus of the auto show this year will be on new technologies and innovations in the development of automotives, particularly the strides made in environmental protection, energy savings and vehicle design. Today China produces cars in large numbers and possessing a car by many Chinese consumers is not seen as a luxury. The pressing concern before the country is on how to effectively tackle the environmental and energy issues.
The Auto China 2014 is being viewed as a great platform for automakers, especially from China, Japan and Europe, to showcase new SUVs, crossover concepts and sports cars. The auto show will also exhibit products made through joint ventures of Chinese and foreign companies.
The German carmaker BMW will be presenting its latest creation at the auto show. The company will unveil a 9 series concept car, which will be BMW’s flagship for the luxurious sedan market. The new car has more curvaceous looks and has all the functionality and features to effectively outmaneuver the leading sedan brand. The car will be running on BMW’s most popular platform, codenamed G11. The BMW will be launching its 9 series and 7 series concept cars for sale from 2016.
Apart from BMW, other equally amazing cars to be on display at the auto show includes Peugeot Exalt, Bentley Hybrid Concept, Bugatti Veyron Black Bess, Citroen DS 5LS R, Audi Crossover Concept, Lexus NX F Sport and Lamborghini Aventador “Nazionale” Ad Personam.
French automaker Peugeot will showcase its latest creation Peugeot Exalt. The company will put up on display a total of 16 vehicles. Bentley will introduce the first of its kind hybrid concept. The Bentley Hybrid Concept to be introduced includes electric-only Cadillac ELR. The company will also debut its Continental GT Speed and Flying Spur V8 cars. The Continental GT Speed has the capability to blaze the race tracks at a maximum speed of 206 mp.
