Bmi soon to connect with Morocco and Norway

Bmi will soon be launching its operations over the new routes by connecting to Marrakech, Casablanca, Bergen and Stavanger from April 2011. The aircrafts, which have been scrapped from the London-Glasgow route, will be used on these new routes.

Daily flights will be operated from Heathrow to the Norwegian cities of the Bergen and Stavanger from 1st April 2011. Four times a week service will be given to the Casablanca that starts on 1st April 2011. The flight service to Marrakech will start from 2nd April 2011, which will operate thrice a week.

The service to the Bergen by Bmi will make it the only carrier that will operate its flights from Heathrow. The Norwegian and SAS flights operate from Gatwick. At present Bmi, codeshares with SAS over the Heathrow-Stavanger route whereas Norwegian operates from Gatwick.

Earlier Casablanca was being served by Air Maroc from London and now BMI will become the second to serve the city. Bmi will also join the list of airlines that provide service between London and Marrakech. The list includes airlines such as British Airways that will start the service from 27th March 2011. Easyjet has been serving from Gatwick while Ryanair operates from London Luton and Air Maroc serves from both Gatwick and Heathrow.

The aircraft A319, which has been configured for economy and business class, will operate over the new routes. The fares for destinations such as Stavanger and Bergen will start at 99 pounds, Marrakech at 149 pounds and Casablanca at 199 pounds.

The aircraft A320 will operate three of the four daily Lufthansa service over Manchester and Birmingham to Frankfurt route that starts from 27th March 2011. The A320 aircrafts are being fully renovated with business class and economy products that stand the Lufthansa standards. The carrier took a move of withdrawing the A319 and A320 aircrafts from London Heathrow-Glasgow route came due to the announcement of increase in the domestic passenger charges by BAA by more than 50 percent.
