British Airways acquires 100th Airbus

British Airways recently took the delivery of an A320, its 100th Airbus. The acquisition has placed the airline into the prestigious airline club, which can boast of 100 or more aircraft deliveries from every member of Airbus’ Single Aisle aircraft family. So far, the airline has acquired two A318s, 33 A319s, 48 A320s and 16 A321s.

After the formation of International Airlines Group (IAG) following the merger of British Airways and Iberia, the 100th aircraft also happens to be the 205th Airbus Single Aisle delivered to IAG.

Expressing happiness over the acquisition of the 100th Airbus, Keith Williams, CEO of British Airways, said, “This milestone underlines British Airways’ commitment to continue to invest in new aircraft for the benefit of our customers. The average age of our short haul Airbus fleet is just over seven years old, making it one of the youngest Airbus fleets of the European network carriers.”
