British Airways and Aer Lingus, both owned by UK-based IAG group, have extended their codeshare agreement on various U.S. routes. The codeshare pact expansion became effective December 10, 2015. This will be applicable on all flights operating to/from, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Shannon and Dublin.
Media reports said Aer Lingus under the agreement will be adding its flight code to British Airways-operated services from London Heathrow to Washington Dulles, Seattle, San Jose, San Francisco, San diego, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Newark Liberty, New York JFK, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Boston, Baltimore, Austin and Atlanta. The airline will also be placing its flight code on flights operated by British Airways from London Gatwick to Tampa, Orlando, Las Vegas and New York JFK.
Similarly, British Airways will be adding its flight code to flights services operated by Aer Lingus. These include routes from Dublin to Washington Dulles, San Francisco, Orlando, Los Angeles, Newark Liberty, New York JFK, Hartford and Boston, and also on routes from Shannon to New York JFK and Boston.
Meanwhile, in yet another development British Airways had in November end introduced “standardised” closure times for check-in and bag drop at airports. The move will now require domestic and short-haul passengers taking flights from UK airports to drop-off and check-in their baggage up to 45 minutes prior to departure. However, passengers boarding long-haul flights from UK airports will be required to check-in and drop-off their baggage up to one hour prior to departure. According to the reports, London City Airport has not been included under this provision, and the passengers can as usual arrive up to 20 minutes before departure.
