British Airways inaugural San Diego flight marks opening of Heathrow’s T5C

The inaugural San Diego flight of the British Airways on June 1, 2011, also marked the official opening of Heathrow’sT5C terminal. The opening of the terminal for business will significantly reduce the number of passengers bussed to the British Airways aircraft from the main terminal from around 20 percent to 5 percent.

The existing underground transit system at Heathrow links the new T5C satellite terminal to the rest of Terminal 5. The T5C satellite terminal will have 12 boarding gates. However, eight of the boarding gates are in fact triple bridges designed to cater for the new 12 strong fleet of Airbus A380 aircraft that British Airways will be acquiring from early 2013.

However, the passengers with lounge access will have to use those in T5A or T5B as T5C does not have any lounges at the moment.
