British Airways launches new bag tagging system at LA

British Airways (BA), premier airline of the United Kingdom launched a new baggage tagging system at the Los Angeles airport. It followed suit Iberia, its European counterpart, weeks after it offered print-at-home tags to its customers. Customers traveling to any of BA’s network cities from Las Vegas McCarren International Airport will be able to print and affix tags to their own baggage at a self-service kiosk.

Passengers traveling on BA’s plane tickets to various destinations from Las Vegas to the United Kingdom and the United States will be able to use this service. The airline has introduced this self-help technique to boost the speed and ease of customers at the airport and help gain control over their trip. Staff members will however assist the customers, who face trouble at the kiosk. After taking the print out and attaching the tag, customers simply need to drop their luggage at the bag drop desk. This new method coupled with the choice of online check-in and printing boarding passes at home aims to give the passengers a hassle-free time at the airport prior to their departure.

BA is the first international airline to offer this service with TSA approval for passengers departing from within the U.S.

Doug Caines, British Airways' Vice President Customer Service and Operations Business Development informed that many passengers have started checking-in online and bringing boarding passes from home. He added that this new self-service technique will help reduce pressures on customers at the airport therefore help make their travel experience smoother.

British Airways has already started this service for customers flying out of London Gatwick and London City airports.
