British Airways launches special fares to North America

British Airways recently announced the launch of its special low fares for travel to North America and the UK. Under this special offer, 43,000 seats have been put up for sale by the airline. The fares on this offer are valid for booking until June 10, 2014.

According to British Airways, the customers can book roundtrip World Traveler (Economy Class) fares for travel to various UK destinations, including Edinburgh. The North American cities covered under this offer include Washington, New York and Toronto. This offer is also valid for travel in World Traveler Plus (Premium Economy). The fares are applicable for travel through June 30, 2014.

Meanwhile, in another development British Airways has entered into a codeshare agreement with US Airways. The new arrangement will now enable British Airways to help transport its customers to about 40 destinations in the Caribbean and North America. The codeshare pact is similarly going to help US Airways as well. The customers traveling on US Airways will now able to connect to British Airways for their onward travel to above 70 destinations across the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

Earlier, US Airways entered into a Atlantic Joint Business partnership with British Airways on March 31, 2014. US Airways, which has now merged with American Airlines thus forming a new American Airlines Group, said that the partnership will prove to be beneficial for both airlines.

A spokesperson of US Airways said that the codeshare pact will strengthen the business ties with British Airways and provide customers of the two airlines with seamless access and connectivity to a large number of destinations on their respective networks.

The codeshare agreement between the two airlines will be implemented in a phased manner. The trans-Atlantic flights of the two airlines will be initially covered under the pact. Under the first phase, the customers of British Airways have now started booking flights on US Airways for travel to Philadelphia and Charlotte from 17 European cities for travel which started from May 14.

The codeshare pact will also allow US Airways to place its flight code on British Airways-operated flights to London. US Airways customers will be able to book tickets on British Airways as well for travel from 21 North American destinations.

According to media reports, the codeshare agreement between the two airlines will gain pace gradually after phase-wise implementation. All the destinations will be covered by end of the summer. The frequent flyer program members of both the airlines such as US Airways Dividend Miles and British Airways Executive Club will get opportunity to earn miles when booked codeshare flights by either airline.
