British Airways has recently inaugurated its new lounge for First Class and Club World (
Business Class) customers at Boston’s Logan International Airport. The opening of the new lounge coincided with the launch of Airbus A380 aircraft on its
London route, which will be operated four times per week.
The newly renovated lounge is located in Terminal E of Boston Logan airport. The lounge is divided into various sections such as a self-service bar, a ‘Concorde Dining’ restaurant offering hot and cold buffet options, comfortable seating areas. Among other facilities at the lounge include free Wi-Fi, reading area, a shower suite and a manned horse-shoe bar.
The revamped lounge is quite spacious than the previous one. It is 30 percent bigger, and is designed to accommodate up to 220 people. The customers visiting the lounge would be offered access to the aircraft through a direct gate.
A spokesperson of British Airways said that the company is planning more lounge facilities in the United States. The airline is going to make a big investment for First Class and Club World lounges at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, which will come up over a period of the next two years. Moreover, the airline is planning new lounges at several airports worldwide, including Chicago, San Francisco, Manchester and Johannesburg.
The First Class and Club World lounges are also to be revamped at London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 over the next five years. The flagship Concorde Room for First Class customers would be equipped with updated décor and new furniture.
Meanwhile, British Airways has said that it currently doesn’t have any plans for introducing buy-on-board services on its long-haul economy class cabins, which were earlier rumored, and which still remains to be confirmed. The airline had earlier this year launched buy-on-board food and drink services on its short-haul flights.
