British Airways set to revolutionize cabins with new seat designs

British Airways is all set to revolutionize the aircraft cabins with its new seat designs. UK’s national carrier has recently filed a patent application for a series of seating innovations in the future.

Media reports said that British Airways has been a pioneer in setting new standards in comfort. The leading British carrier was the first one to launch full lie-flat seats in its first class and business class cabins. Though the airline has of late facing stiff competition from its rivals, and particularly needs to enhance its business class product further.
 
The reports said that the airline has promptly swung into action and making extensive efforts behind the scenes not just only to catch up with its rivals but forge way ahead and give them a run for their money.

British Airways had filed for the Tetris-style lay-flat seating patent in 2014. The airline is working on this innovative and attractive design in association with its inventor Nigel Goode of Priestmangoode Design, London. Apart from this, the airline has recently filed yet another patent application, accredited to Peter Cooke, Design Lead at British Airways.

A revolutionary seat fastening system for the cabin floor allowing for more flexible cabin configurations has been presented in the patent application as part of a complex set of cabin innovations. British Airways said that these unique floor fasteners would enable different types of seat structures to be placed together in the same cabin space. Apart from first class and business class, the airline would also be offering forward-aft facing seat pairs as part of its attractive premium economy product offering.
